On the other hand, murderers and whatnot getting into heaven type stuff, I personally am a bit skeptacle of people who claim to be "born again christains" or whatever after living a horrible life. I've met a few who truly are, and they earn my deepest respect, but the fact of the matter is it's all an issue of who you are, how you think, and what motivates you. If you do good deeds for yourself, it doesn't matter how many you do, you fail to see the point of what God wants. If you don't have the mindset that God tries to instill in a Christian, then I don't think you're going to be too excited about heaven. I don't know many things that give me good goosebumps like a really good group rendition of "Sign of the Times" or some of the other songs we will occasionally sing, and it should be more than a bit thrilling to think that is only a shadow of what we'll have when we're in heaven praising God with our all, with all those who have gone before us, not just in falable voices.

Maybe music is just something for me personally, but my best experiences in life have generally been in doing something for God whether I have realised it or not. I think it would be hard to want to go to heaven, and thus follow the strictures put down by God if you haven't found anything especially good while praising or worshiping, or even working for God.

Finally, if God had wanted automatons, he would have made them, but he wants beings who can relate somewhat with him, not to him, and if you don't do what he's said he's not going to let you in his city because you'd be sticking out like a sore thumb. He's already tried letting everyone in, and both Satan and Adam rejected him, I think he's got every right to be a bit picky in his selections...
