A few threads down there was an interesting dicussion on moraility as it relates to R and PG-13 movies and M rated video games. I would like to go a little deeper on another somewhat related topic. What about literature? Many books are filthy, filled with sex violence and similar activities. What is the Christians responsibility for SELF CENSORSHIP? (Caps on purpose) I went through a period in my life where I didn't have a real problem with R rated movies (not boasting, in fact, not proud). I was once chastized by a Christian woman that R rated movies were unacceptable. The catch is that this person regularly read romance novels and not the innocent and clean ones. At the time I saw little difference and I feel the same today. I pray that as I influence our church youth today and in the future, that I will be able to be positive, honest and consistent.
