Hi Joanne.
Confession / Acknowledgment seems to me to be an everyday thing (Matt 10:32-33, 1John 4:15). I doubt that God will accept someone who did it one time right before they were baptized, but then was ashamed to wear His name the rest of his life. Conversely, I doubt that God will render a man's walk in Christ "unworthy" who bears the name of Jesus regularly as his savior yet did not repeat that "magical incantation" when he was baptized. If some are bothered by whether or not he "came forward to place his membership" I suggest that we only worry about scriptural matters. Other such things only tend to divide us, which is what Satan wants.
