I had to look on a map to see where Orland is. Even though I've driven through that area on I-5 dozens of times, the name didn't ring any bells. It is a nice area, not far from big cities but still fairly rural and small town. I know that there are many churches going through the same kind of challenge as you are having in Orland, and personally work with a few congregations that are of similar size. Your difficulties are of course made harder by the recent death of your father. Whether you do get that new family or families that you hope for or not, I hope that you will keep the lamp lit and that the families already meeting there will continue to work together for the good of the body, and each member of it. The Lord wasn't kidding or exaggerating when he spoke of being present when two or three come together in his name, and the affirmation given to Paul that "my grace is sufficient for you" is an affirmation to every believer when facing weakness or suffering or doubt. Being small or weak doesn't mean being useless or ineffective, because our sufficiency comes from the Lord, not from ourselves. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. (2 Cor 3:5 NIV) I do not have the ability or resources to supply what you requested (a few families to move there). Perhaps, Lord willing, we can find some other way to encourage you all, at least a little bit.
