If God were not "good" as we know good, then the purposes of our lives would be different. We would be here as his toys. We would not be free thinking creatures, unless of course we are only allowed to think that we are freewilled creatures. The goals of a malevolent God would be self amusement, self aggrandizment, and basically the demeaning of all lesser creatures, which if you are omniscient and omnipotent and omnipresent, includes everything else. He would not be a God of love like the one we know, but would be a God of hate, senseless death, pitilessness, ruthless, destructive, etc... In a world of hate, wouldn't there be a lot of hate of oneself? Perhaps a totally evil God would merely be bent on trying to find something powerful enough to kill itself, thus allowing man to create newer and better weapons. Perhaps the goal of war is to prepare man to face-off with his maker.
