I think that this thread has gotten far from being refreshing! Part of what Lindsay is true as it relates to the claim to ownership of the land, who the Palestinians are, Jewish re-settlement and a legitimate view of why Arab countries have failed to react to the Palestinians. However, he is biased in his view based on his view of the Bible and I totally disagree with his eschatological views. From a Biblica point of view, I find no compelling reason to support the State of Israel. They have a weak claim to the land. From a political view, I can understand why Israel should be supported. It is the only truly democratic nation in the region, it was sanctioned by the League of Nations (regardless of whether that was right or not), it is recognized by the UN and it has a legitimate political stability in contrast to the Palestinians that can claim none of the above. The hatred for Jews by a large number of the Arabs in the region is another factor that alone should create a necessity for support from the West.
