Churches and Child Abuse

Looking back at posts 884, 888 and 889 I see much that is wrong; misdirection, innuendo, unsupported assertions, undefined terms, perjorative descriptions and over generalizations, to start. I'm still looking for that place where I called "the RCC a haven for child abusers," for example. I have no idea where any support for the assertions about Mormons, JWs and Amish is to be found, or what the words "child abuse" refer to in that context. I don't know what 50 years of Catholic history in Poland tells us about anything, especially given that for most of the 50 years Poland was dominated by the Soviets. Nevertheless, while I deplore misrepresentation, rumor mongering and seeking an argument for its own sake (and I see no other purpose in posts 884, 888, and 889), I'm not interested in defending the Mormons, or the Boy Scouts, or the USSSP. The venom against those organizations should be directed elsewhere. There are discussion forums where Boy Scout policies are heatedly discussed, but the topic here was merely a factual question about a particular merit program, which was factually answered. The reactionary response has not been entirely factual or well informed, but again, as to the argument, no thanks.

2 Tim 2:23 Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.
(from New International Version)

Titus 3:9-10 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him.
(from New International Version)
