In other words, there is no 'Cub Scouts Religious Emblems Program'. There is no question that the principles of scouting have always included religious faith, but on a strictly non-denominational basis. I would be very surprised to learn that the scouts were officially promoting or sanctioning denominational religious activities within scouting, especially proselytizing. A little semantic hair-splitting and silly innuendo? I'm pretty sure I didn't implicate the Scouts in anything immoral or illegal. Are we this hard up for an argument? Please note, in my reply to Ben's question (which sought information, not argument) the reference to "volunteers." But if you want to split those semantic hairs regarding whether there is a Cub Scouts or BSA "religious emblems program," your assertion Essay is not correct. Please visit the Boy Scouts National Council website (link below) and note that they describe "the religious emblems program" and its place in scouting under "Personal Growth." That's "religious emblems program." Their words, not mine. Prior to Ben's question I knew nothing about this program. My own concern in areas like this is not for the integrity of BSA or maintaining some absurd notion that irreligion is somehow a virtue to be pursued or forced upon a group like BSA. My concern in areas like this is in regard to the church getting entangled in the world, to the detriment of the church. And so I stress that it is a volunteer program on the part of those church members and leaders who choose to be involved and help the scouts who want to pursue this emblem.
