Comfort and encourage, some answeres
Posted by Ben - May 23, 2000 at 9:01:57am:

Different people have different needs. Where there are shepherds they should be equipped to help with some or most of those needs. There should also be enough closeness within a congregation that members would have someone they could go to.

Prayer and time spent in the word are two of the most important things Christians can do. Prayer and the word are life changing.

When the church meets, are the needs for comfort and encouragement always the same and to be met in the same way?

Different people have different needs. For example some churches meet on Wednesday, and others on Thursday. It is all a matter of a better time. At different times individual people need different things as well. The writer of Hebrews tells us that we need to progress from milk to solid food. Each person is at a different spiritual stage, this makes their needs and desires different.

What can we do if we feel that we are not receiving the encouragement we need?

It is difficult to do anything unless you know what kind of encouragement you need, or think you need. If you don't know you could try talking with someone who is older and wiser, or just wiser. Sometimes it helps just talking to anybody. When you do know you can talk to the leaders of the church and they should help you get the encouragement you need. As should all members of the church, we are to be uplifting and edifying each other.
