i.e. -- David would become better by being forgiven, Psalm 51
Also remember that Solomon's wisdom was not as great a blessing as you might think. His wisdom led him into much trouble, hundreds of wives and concubines. With all his wisdom he was only able to reach the same final conclusion that we can all reach. Fear God and obey his commands.
Peter was able to become a powerful leader in the church, because he knew what it was to fall from grace, and have the ability to be restored.

Generally the people more favored by God are also asked more of by God. John was one of the last living apostles and saw Revelations. Moses had to lead a nation and keep it together for forty years. Paul had to deliver the message throughout Rome, get shipwrecked, beaten, imprisioned, etc...
As a person is given more, more is asked. More was expected of the man with five talents than the man with two talents, and more was expected of him than of the man with one talent.
