O.K. here’s my take on this question. The answer is partly a matter of what the point of the question is. First, the Bible is clear that God does not favor one over another. I thought Charles scripture examples pointed that out quite well, but the context of most verses seems clear to me. Rom 2:11 For God does not show favoritism. … is a good example of what the overall point seems to be in the N.T. which is that God’s people aren’t Jews or Gentiles but those that follow his will. He does not favor Jews or Gentiles! In short, just because you say you are a Christian or just because you are baptized or just because you think your special doesn’t make you a favorite of God’s. God shows favor to the righteous. His preference has always been to the righteous. And why wouldn’t it be? Someone wanting to side take an opposing view may say that God want’s all to be saved and loves everyone. While this is true, it does not negate the fact that God decides what if fair, not us. Did God show preference to David when he spared his life after his sin with Bathsheba? What about Heziakiah, whose life was extended by God based on a request following obedience? Wasn’t Peter shown preference when he denied Christ? Or the disciple whom Christ loved? If God’s hears the prayer of the righteous and not of the unrighteous, isn’t that preference? It’s not the prayer of the evil that avails much. For us today: I believe that God shows preference for the righteous both on a daily basis in blessings that are given to us and he will show eternal preference by saving the righteous and punishing the unrighteous. These are the supreme forms of preference and they are not wrong because God is perfection.
