I take it you don't mean...

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. NIV

John 14:23-24 23Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. NIV

We could look for specific commands of Jesus in the gospels of course (commands written in red?) but that won't do. The gospels were written several years after the church was established, on the order of 20 to 35 years (possibly more for John). Yet the church needed to obey Jesus' commands all along, from the very beginning. Matthew points toward the answer in his final message from Jesus, "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'" (Matt 28:18-20 NIV)

The apostles job was to make disciples and ... teach them to obey everything Jesus commanded. The commands of Jesus are what is taught by the apostles (present tense intentional, they still teach through what they wrote). That teaching is in the form of quoted commands (as in the gospels and a few other scriptures) but also in everything they taught, by word and by example, as recorded in Acts and the letters, as well as the gospels.

Consider:

John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." NIV

1 Corinthians 7:10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. NIV

1 Corinthians 9:14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel. NIV

2 Thessalonians 3:6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. NIV

2 Thessalonians 3:12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. NIV

Revelation 3:10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. NIV

1 Corinthians 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
NIV

1 Cor 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, ... NIV

Can we (perhaps selectively) ignore Paul's example (or Peter's) and still obey Jesus' commands?
