Re: the gap theory

Sorry you feel that way Michael. You're free to disagree, of course, which leaves discussion, consideration, learning and cooperation open as options, but it's hard to surmount evident hostility and negativity.

It has been truly said, "you can't please everyone," or as Jesus put it
"Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets." (Luke 6:26 NIV) So we don't have any expectation of being liked by everyone. Our aim, even with all our own mistakes, is as Paul expressed for himself "Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." (Gal 1:10 NIV)

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 1 Peter 3:15-16 NIV

So if we err, let's at least err on the side of gentleness and respect.
