I am convinced that everyone reacts to input in different ways. For example, one person might view one of the violent movies, mentioned by Charles below, and react in an appropriate way and others might do the opposite. In short, I might react in a sinful way and you might react in a proper way. Each person must judge for themselves. I do however have a very specific argument for why we should not lump movie violence in the same category as movie sex, nudity and profane language. I have never seen, nor can I imagine that movie sex, nudity and profane language could ever impact someone in a way that was not very negative. Violence in movies and T.V. does not follow this same pattern in every case. Slapstick is a good example. The Three Stooges, Roadrunner and other similar forms of entertainment are clearly not real. Normal people are not enticed to violence because Moe hits Larry with a metal pole or because Wile E. Coyote is blown up several times in a ten minute cartoon. Some movies may portray violent acts in a way that can be justified. The biggest problem with most action movies today is that is just isn't violence that is shown in the movies, it is coarse language, nudity and sexual situations. Too many, movies glorify sex outside of marriage; abortion (some win major awards); homosexuality; anti-Christian beliefs, such as non-creation themes and similar. I think that Christians should focus more on these other demented themes than violence. Personally, I don't really care for action movies, even ones that are clean (if they exist). I have enjoyed some movies that depict war from an historical perspective and haven't been encouraged to be violent.
