movies and video games

One of the threads below talks about the potential problems with PG-13 movies. This is a very important issue! Although it is hard to get a handle on exactly how (any why) movies are rated either R or PG-13, I know that there are many PG-13 movies that are as bad or worse than R rated movies. I AM NOT SAYING THIS TO JUSTIFY VIEWING R RATED MOVIES! However, I suggest that a Christian should abstain from most PG-13 movies also. The theme of many PG-13 movies is one of depravity, which is a problem that secular rating systems do not solve.

I suggest screenit.com to anyone that wishes to watch a movie of any rating. It is an exaustive critique of the movie with detial and subject matter made very clear. Don't believe advertizing or opinions of others, test it yourself. Even PG movies may not have an appropriate subject matter, especially for kids.

I have seen several TV movies in the last several months that I felt were quite interesting and entertaining without having sex, violence and numerous instances of inappropriate language. The Hallmark series is often a good choice for appropriate viewing. The point: you don't need to be entertained by smut.
