Your question about movies and video games is a good one. We need to have good senses to tell the difference between good and evil. If our senses are not good, we do not see that difference and can easily think something evil is good. Remember how Eve was beguiled into thinking sin would be a good thing? (2 Cor.11:3) Movies and video games have served to take away good moral senses. Watching them will "desensitize" us to evil until we are no longer bothered by things that should bother us. The change doesn't occur at once, but gradually, over a period of time. We have seen the media do this very thing to us. Some of us remember the stir caused by the movie "Gone With The Wind" because it contained just ONE four-letter word. Today, it would be considered a "family" movie. To those whose senses have been worn down, a profane word is "just another word", not an idle word or corrupt communication as the Bible identifies them. People used to be entertained by movies and programs that wouldn't even show a married couple in bed together, let alone sexual immorality. Some might call these examples prudish or Puritanical, but when one barrier fell, others soon followed. "We've come a long way, baby." The previous comments from several are right. We should all try to remember Philippians 4:8,9 every day. |
